It's a nice place, good food. The piers are high and it is hard to get out of your boat if you are taking older people they may have a problem. It is also very wavy there so you have to tie your boat up good or you could have problems. I would recommend going by car. I heard they have great wings there but have not tried them yet.

Pretty good food. Wings are decent. Jalapeno poppers are some of the best around. You get twice as many in an order than most places.

Service sometimes get REAL slow in the summer and don't like that they don't give free refills on soda.

We stop by via land, even in the winter. Karaoke Saturday nights.

Just stopped in there last night (Thursday). Docks are finally out.

Lemme tell you, if you like meat loaf, they have a special on Thursday called the meat loaf stack. The thing is huge. I'm a big guy who can usually polish off anything, but this had me beat. Very good as well.

Service STILL slow.

Fairmont is a good place still

Postby ksh417 » Sat Jul 01, 2006 5:09 pm

but it's definitely gone down hill a bit since Jimmy and Nancy sold it a few years ago.

I recommend the Steak Sandwich special! Yum!

Fish

Postby TheBeerGuy » Tue Dec 12, 2006 3:53 pm

The friday fish fry is great at Fairmont - it's $7.99 and I can never finish the whole plate. Oh, and they have hushpuppies which is a bonus.

one of my favorite places on the chain. malibu chicken, burgers and those stack specials(meatloaf) are excellent. stay away from the fried fish specials.

I agree that the Cajun Pork Chops are my favorite! I always get extra Buffalo sauce on the side! Their grilled chicken salads are good too... nice and large!

Not positive but - I think Cajun Pork Chops (and cajun potatos) are only available on Tuesday's and Friday's. Also, the view at sunset is great too.

We stopped by. Good food, decent pricing. The docks are just so, so. If you have a lot of freeboard on your boat, you will need to make sure you have a lot of fenders out. It also doesn't help that a few go fast boats would go flying by 30 feet off the end of the dock. Docks are the only so, so negative, but their docks are about normal for the chain.

i would have to say ditto to poormonkeys remarks.
we stopped 8/24 for some lunch , i had the cajon steak sandwich
i loved it.. wife had a b.l.t.. cant go wrong there. daughter had fries
good and quick service.. much faster then captians qts. and they were very busy. ill be back thats for sure

as for the piers. look out the bite.. i was lucky i put out extra fenders
and used a couple pillows. but still pulled a bit of the rub rail out.
that area is a wave machine.. we were there for the sunset one of the
best on the chain. new owner seams like good folks.

I drove up and stopped by for the last Bears' game and ran into a few FOTFer.

Nice place. I heard the bathrooms were just remodeled. Good wings at halftime. Friendly place. I have not stopped by there by water. I heard talk of improved piers this Summer as this is a common concern at several area bars for boaters.

Overall, definitely recommended. Ted

We finally made it to the Bayou for the Fish Fry. The fish was pretty good, but our service was absolutely TERRIBLE. The girl kept forgetting about us and we had to ask two or three times and all she would do is give us excuses. I understand they were busy but come on, we sat down and she took our drink orders and then a bigger party came in 15 minutes later and they ordered and were eating way before us!! We were there with some friends that were always in there when is was Fairmont and this was our first time being the Bayou so we will prolly give it another shot and hopefully it was a rare incident. I'll have to agree with Jeep. We must of had the same girl once before because she kept forgetting to bring me water after I asked 3 times.

The other thing that bothered us was that there were plenty of tables open (only one with a reserved sign on it) and we were told we had to wait for an open table. We waited anyway and almost got bumped because some of the owners friends came in. He saw us standing there and saw them walk in the door after us.

I used to go to Fairmont all the time since I'm less than a mile away. It is nicer but definitely not the same place since Scott owned it.

Sorry if bothers anyone. I know he is a site sponsor, does the water taxi, etc. This is just my honest opinion.

We just visited last week. Deb said we were the first boaters of the season and bought us a round of drinks. Only the first section of pier was in so it made for a tricky tie-up.

The double stack meatloaf was excellent, as was the service. Only one person in our group of 4 was dissatisfied with the food (ostrich) but they cooked up a chicken sandwich right away.

We'll definitely be back!!!

I second the meatloaf stack. The O'Burger is awesome, too.

I thought the original owners repurchased and were going back to the Fairmont Shores name.
