With over 7100 acres of water, the Fox River's Chain O'Lakes is the second largest inland water-oriented recreational asset in Northeastern Illinois and the Fox River and Chain o' Lakes ranks second in popularity in the entire United States. With its 15 lakes, 40 miles of Fox River and over 450 miles of shoreline, the Fox River and Chain o' Lakes system accommodates every water-borne activity ranging from hunting to boating to fishing to birding to swimming. The Fox River and Chain o' Lakes system is centrally located a one hour's drive from Chicago, Milwaukee or Rockford.

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources also requires you to register your boat. Whether you buy a new boat, or get a used one, if you have a small boat with no motor, or a PWC. You need to have numbers.

IL DNR also handles title transfers for all watercraft and snowmobiles.

Fox Waterway Sticker Info

The Fox Waterway Agency requires that all users pay a user fee and obtain a sticker for your watercraft. You can get your sticker directly from the Agency, or purchase it at a satelite location. Click Here for a list of Satelite Locations.
