I took my brother and his kids out for a boat ride and decided to try Columbia Bay. It is more kid friendly and just the ticket for a lazy Sunday. Try and spread yourself around to some different places on the Chain. There are a lot of different sections to experience.
Great to be out at the Island on a Thursday. Good crowd and it certainly felt like summer finally got a second chance. It was a hot one out there, and we love it that way.
Sunday was another nice day out, but a little windy. It created some interesting times trying to anchor the boats out there. For the most part though things went pretty smooth. I ended up staying late and the temps kept it pleasant out on the water.
Started the weekend off Friday night at Dru and Andrea's house party on the water. Then moved over to the Island for the first night of Blarney Gras. Candy, a FOTF regular won the Friday night calendar girl contest. Then Spent Saturday at the Sandbar. It was a little empty, a lot of the regulars were in LOTO and overcast weather kept others away.
What a great weekend to finally be back out on the water. There are pictures from the Sandbar on Saturday, a stop in at Freddies for Food. Then off to a couple of house parties to watch the fireworks on the water. Ended the weekend rafting in Pistakee Bay. All in all we couldn't ask for better weather for a Holiday weekend.
Good to spend a Friday out on the water. Pictures include a good chunk of the day blown at the Petite Lake Sandbar. Stopping over at Electric Harbor for dinner and to visit Jen, the best Friday night bartender around. Then off to the Island to see the First round of their calendar girl contest.
The night was a little cool but they had some great races and the Island was packed. Good to see everyone back out there. What a great start to the Holiday weekend.
The lakes opened to no wake with the Island bringing the Bands back! We had to dodge some rain showers but got out on the water. We stopped in at Kief's Reef, The Thirsty Turtle for Modern Day Romeos, and Blarney Island.
A big thanks to Aerial Shots by Lee (847) 902 - 3140 for the quality aerial shots of the flooding. The Lakes are all closed for the first time in years and we have hit all time record flood levels. This gallery is to post pictures of what is going on out there and boats at Marinas for fellow board members. Please follow the posting guidelines/instructions on the sticky at the top of the chit chat section.
After a nice start to Saturday we spent the rest of the weekend dodging wind and rain. It was still good to be on the boat and the camper canvas paid off. We have pictures of rafting up in petite bay on Saturday, a house party on the lakes for Deb's 29th birthday, and trying to get the chain crawl.com kicked off on Sunday in the rain. We made the most of the rainy weekend which kept a lot of people off the water.
After a cold week, despite dodging some rain ( and getting stuck in some) it turned out to be an excellent weekend. It was great to stop back at the sandbar for the first time this year and Blarney had some local favorites at the Island. Thanks to Modern Day Romeos for playing through the rain, and a big thanks to those that stayed to make it a great night. If you don't have your boat in the water, this weekend proved that you should.
Great to see some old faces from last summer and some new members come out and tie up with group. Great to see the boats in the water and it certainly felt like summer is here again.
It turned out to be a nice night and a great party. It was strange seeing everyone in suits and evening gowns at the Island, but that is what made it special. Certainly a great way to kick off the new boating season.
We had some great weather for the run this year, which made it worth it pushing it back a day. Lake Michigan was a little choppy, but it made for an interesting ride out there. Thanks to everyone that was able to make it. FunontheFox.com had a strong showing for this event.
The Indy show really is something to go see. Much more square footage than the Chicago show and a lot more lake boats that would suit the chain. Separate buildings full of inboards, fishing gear, and motorcycles really give you time to focus on the type of boat you are looking for. I suggest the drive next year to anyone interesting in checking out a lot of boats.
A good smaller boat show with a strong showing by chain o lakes area dealers. Focusing on boats under 24 feet, pontoons, and fishing, it is a different atmosphere than the larger Chicago show.
We had a great turn out and good conditions. For just over $100 a person we had 2 nights hotel, 2 breakfasts, lunch, pizza party, and a miller lite truck out in front of the hotel!
It certainly was a cold day out with sub zero temps. Luckily it was warm at McCormick Place. Can't think of a better way to get rid of the winter blues than climbing all over some new boats. Rubbin the vinyl and strokin the fiberglass.
A great time to catch up with boating friends you haven't seen in months and to meet new ones. We had about 120 people show up for our winter blow out at Port O Blarney. A big thank you to those you set it all up. salsa guy, captain julie, and scuba!
Great time getting together with some long time members and some new faces. Yes, it was stupid cold and the temps were in the negatives. If we have great groups like this during the winter, we are going to have a beautiful summer.
The FunontheFox team captain CRIUSER JOHN led a great group into the ice cold water to raise money for the Special Olympics. A big thanks to all those who participated, they raised OVER $2000!!
We had the after party at Knuckleheads on Fox Lake, thanks for having us!
Cruiser John was gracious enough to host the "First Boat in the Water Party". Just to say we boated in March some people put them in the water. The after party was at the Port o Blarney where we watch a great show by Don Becker.
What a great weekend for the Loop Cruise. They had over a hundred boats register, and we ended up leaving the piers with over 80 in the water. 70 and sunny certainly beats the last 2 years of low 50's and rain.
Another great day on the water to top off the weekend. Stopped in at the Broken Oar, great to see all the bike and boaters listening to the live band and having a great sunday. If you have a motorcycle this is a must stop. The Broken Oar regularly pulls in over 1000 bikes on a Sunday.
We have been having good weather on the weekends and Cinco de Mayo happened to coincide with opening day at Blarney Island. Sounds like a great reason to have a raft up over in Dunn's Lake. Turned out we had a total of 16 boats show up for this early season event.
Even with the foul weather we made it into a nice weekend. Pictures include Friday night for Mike and Joe, and Sunday for Modern Day Romeos. The Wolkinis Closing party, and some time spent at Lucky's. With a little rafting and wakeboarding thrown in.
Not many people out this weekend. It was threatening rain most of the time. Got some pictures in petite for a little bit and then at Blarney Island for the band. A pretty slow weekend all in all.
97.9 the Loop was at Captain's Quarters, we were also there for Pete's wife's birthday party. Also some pictures of the Petite Sandbar Saturday and DruBru's Boathouse Bar party.
Got things started on Wednesday, we have pictures of the Mid-Week Wake-Up brought to you by LIquid Sports Online and the Broken Oar. Then moved into Thursdays with the Blarney Island boat races of course
Great weather all weekend means a serious amount of time spent at the petite lake sandbar. We also swung up to Blarney for Key West Fest. Matt Avery put on a great show and the Island really drew a crowd. On sunday the band at the Broken Oar was great, I am glad I stopped in.
Spun up to Blarney to see the Band Saturday night. Then spent the better part of the Day Sunday at the Petite Bay Sandbar. Not a band turn out for how overcast the day started.
Well of course the FunontheFox weekend starts on Thursdays at the boat races! Also pictures of Saturday and Sunday at the Sandbar. The Band at Knuckleheads and some time at Blarney Saturday night.
What a great weekend for boating, we certainly had some heat out there. We have some pics wednesday the 4th submitted by site member kphayes. Along with some from the boat races Thursday, along with the sandbar and the fireworks saturday. I hope everyone enjoyed the weekend as much as I did.
Another great weekend out on the water. Weather started windy but shaped up. Started the day at the Sandbar, moved over to Blarney Gras. The place was packed, good thing we got there early. Then Sunday ended the day at the Christmas in July Toys for Tots bike run at the Broken Oar.
Yes you are correct this is the biggest party of the year. Want to see your pictures in the User submitted gallery for this? send them to admin@funonthefox.com
<------- this girl to the left, took my camera to delete ONE (1) picture and ended up erasing my entire memory card. I thought all hope was lost, but then site member Scary132 came to the rescue with the means of recovering pictures from a memory card. I didn't get everything back but enough to give you an idea of how the weekend went.
Of course at FOTF the weekend starts on Thursdays. Some pictures at the Boat Races, Pimp and Ho from Friday at Blarney, and then out and about during the overcast weekend. A bad day on the water is better than a good day at work.
Our official BYOBC photographer, site member Donk, once again came through with the photos. This is the 3rd year he has been working for us. Even though the competition wasn't as strong as previous years, it was still a good day to be out.
What a great day for a contest, and it was also the Captain's Quarters end of the season party. We had a great showing and I am happy to say FOTF was well represented at the event!
This is the second annual FunontheFox end of the season party. We had some great contest entries with the winner receiving a prize pack including a $100 Munson Ski gift certificate. Of course we had to then take a ride around the lakes and go to the Blarney Island Drink-em-Dry closing party. We couldn't have asked for better weather.
What great weather we had for this event. You can't really call it the River Shiver when the temps are close to 90 in October! About 70 boats signed up for the run, and some big power showed up. Turned into a very exciting day.
These are some great pics from the run down river. These pictures are generously reposted from Scott Renshaw Photography. Please respect this professional photographers work and order reprints directly from his site.
It was a little rainy and a little cold, but still a great time running the 'Chicago Loop Cruise'. About 45 boats did the run this year. One of these years there is going to be good weather for this thing.
Helping out with the pictures again this year is site member Donk. One of our official FunontheFox.com photographers covering this event the last 2 years. Great work Donk!!
This was our first Bloody Mary Contest and Cruise. it started cold, but the sun and the people made it a great day. Thanks to Rodney, a legend on the water, for being a wonderful host, and also a big cheer to Sarah who won the contest!!
